Updated: May 17, 2020

One of the most frequent questions that I get on my Instagram is how your skin is so flawless and what products you use for glowing skin. I promised there that I will share my skincare routine with you guys, so this is the first blog post related to my skincare.

As Eid is around the corner and most of us during Ramadan become lazy and find it difficult to look after our skin on a regular basis. I thought why not combine all the tips and tricks into one tutorial and name it as herbal facial.

I tried to address most common skin concerns such as removing dead skin, blackheads, whitening and large pores. This facial you need to do once in 15 days, and it will do wonder to your skin. I uploaded a complete video tutorial on my YouTube channel (The Ordinary Style) to search it as Best Home Made Organic Brightening Facial.

Let’s start our facial, before starting it change your cloths wear old T-shirt sit and sit on a mat with a handy mirror and a bowl full of water and lots of cotton pads. So you won’t have to run around the washroom to wash your face after completing each step.

This facial includes four steps as (1) cleansing (2) scrubbing (3) massage (4) mask

We will start facial with clean washed towel dry face. Now we need two basic ingredients which are always available in our fridge. Tomato and yogurt/milk

Several compounds in tomatoes have an anti-inflammatory effect such as lycopene, beta carotene, lutein, vitamin E, vitamin C and vitamin B...it help to reduce sunburns, promote wound healing, stimulate collagen production and also remove dead skin cells. Yogurt is packed with lactic acid which is quite famous these days in beauty bloggers because it promotes skin whitening, fights acne, gives UV rays production, increases skin elasticity by reducing fine lines and wrinkles. Its creamy texture also helps to lock skin moisture.

I hope after reading this you won't resist trying this cleanser.

Now Take half piece of tomato cut it into two pieces. Take one tablespoon of yogurt or milk as per availability in a bowl now dip the tomato into yogurt and rub it on your face. Repeat it as many times till the yogurt is finish now massage your face with the tomato piece covered in yogurt for five to seven minutes.

Now clean your face with cotton pads You will see lots of dirt on the back of cotton pads coming right away from your skin. wash your face with water and you will notice clean bright skin after all the dirt washed from your skin cells.

We need only two ingredients for making this amazing scrub that will help to remove your dead skin cells and exfoliate your skin. As we all know honey is the most ancient mask used for skin because it has antibacterial and antiseptic properties, so it gets rid of dirt and bacteria, perfect for both preventing and treating acne and It's full of antioxidants and boosts collagen production and boost glow.

Now take one tablespoon of honey and one tablespoon of ground coffee. Mix them well in a bowl and apply on your face. Wet your hands with water and start slowly scrubbing your dead skin do this step only for 5 minutes. Wash your face with fresh water and towel dry your face.

The third step in this facial is massage. I am using two royal ingredients for face massage as these are famous to use by Kate Middleton.

Turmeric is excellent for acne because it is a natural antiseptic and helps to keep bacteria from spreading. Thanks to its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial benefits Turmeric also acts as a lightening agent, meaning it helps to lighten the color of the skin and when used in a face mask it can do wonder to your skin.

Coconut oil has anti-oxidants such as Vitamin E and Vitamin A, which help to slow down the aging process and help to reduce the damage from free radicals and the sun. It hydrates skin for 24 hours and helps to improve skin elasticity and collagen production.

Isn’t it surprising that the royal princess also uses the old Indian skincare hacks that have told us years before our Nani. Now you need one teaspoon of turmeric and one tablespoon of coconut oil mix them and massage on your face for 5 to 7 minutes. watch my youtube video to learn all the uplifting massage moves. wash your face with water.

After completing the first three steps now we need to mask our face to shrink the open pores and calm our skin after massaging and scrubbing. This mask is one of the secrets to glowing and brightening skin. I use this mask once in a week and I keep me away from all skin problems such as larger pores, acne, and uneven tone.

It is very easy to make we need one tablespoon of cucumber gel and nutmeg (in Urdu we call it Jaifal) powder. Cucumber gel reduces dark circles, controls puffiness of the eyes, helps with sunburn and skin tanning, it treats open pores, and fight with cellulite. Nutmeg is a heavenly ingredient unfortunately mentioned very less in the beauty and skincare domain. One of the most amazing benefits of nutmeg is that it has the ability to even out discolorations and pigmentation on your face.

I personally experience it to fade pigmentation and brighten up my complexion with it. It has stimulating properties to wake up dead skin cells and help to fade those not-so-fine lines around your mouth. Nutmeg is known to have curative properties that heal scars caused by everything from acne to sunspots it also helps out with dry skin because it's extremely moisturizing and exfoliation.

Now mix both ingredients and apply it on your face and leave it for 10 minutes. If you have sensitive skin, you will feel stinging because of nutmeg properties. No worries it won’t harm your skin. Wash your face with cold water and air dry it.

Now apply any moisturizer on your face. I promise with you this facial will give you instant brightening and keep your face glowing for days and people around you will keep trying to know the secret behind this glow.

This is my picture taken the next morning without anything on my face except popping red lipstick on the purpose of taking a photo.
